چکیده
Reservoir characterization plays a crucial role in comprehending the distribution of formation properties and fluids within heterogeneous reservoirs. This knowledge is instrumental constructing an accurate three-dimensional model reservoir, facilitating predictions regarding porosity, permeability, fluid flow distribution. Among various methods employed for reservoir characterization, hydraulic unit stands out as widely adopted approach. By effectively subdividing into distinct zones, each characterized by unique petrophysical geological properties, units enable comprehensive analysis. The concept closely tied to zone indicator, critical parameter that defines porosity-permeability relationships unit. Additionally, indicator method proves valuable estimating permeability accurately. In this study, we demonstrate application determine Khasib formation. analyzing core data calculating Rock Quality Index (RQI) Flow Zone Indicator (∅Z), differentiate four based on FZI values. Specifically, HFU 1 represents rock poor quality, corresponding compact chalky limestone. 2 intermediate argillaceous limestone, while 3 good porous Lastly, 4 signifies excellent quality vuggy establishing equation correlates with effective porosity type, successfully estimate permeability. Comparing these estimated values reveals strong agreement high correlation coefficient 0.96%. Consequently, classifies provides reliable means determining reservoir. resulting equations can be applied wells depth intervals lacking measurements, further emphasizing practical utility method.

Hydraulic flow units and permeability prediction in a carbonate reservoir, Southern Iraq from well log data using non-parametric correlation
The determination of permeability in heterogeneous and anisotropic reservoirs is a complex problem, because core samples and well test data are usually only available for limited number of wells. This paper presents hydraulic flow units and flow zone indicator for predicting permeability of rock mass from core and well log-data. The concept is applied to some uncored wells/intervals to predict ...
متن کاملEstimation of Flow Zone Indicator Distribution by Using Seismic Data: A Case Study from a Central Iranian Oilfield
Flow unit characterization plays an important role in heterogeneity analysis and reservoir simulation studies. Usually, a correct description of the lateral variations of reservoir is associated with uncertainties. From this point of view, the well data alone does not cover reservoir properties. Because of large well distances, it is difficult to build the model of a heterogenic reservoir, but ...

متن کاملA Physical-based Model of Permeability/Porosity Relationship for the Rock Data of Iran Southern Carbonate Reservoirs
The prediction of porosity is achieved by using available core and log data; however, the estimation of permeability is limited to the scare core data. Hence, porosity and saturation data through the framework of flow units can be used to make an estimation of reservoir permeability. The purpose of this study is to predict the permeability of a carbonate gas reservoir by using physical-based em...
